Dutasteride 

In short: Dutasteride is the stronger, broader DHT inhibitor and can sometimes benefit patients who feel finasteride has lost its edge over time. However, it’s not licensed everywhere for hair loss, and because it’s more potent, the risk–benefit balance should be carefully discussed with a doctor.

Finasteride selectively inhibits the Type II 5-alpha-reductase enzyme, reducing DHT levels by around 60–70%. Dutasteride, however, inhibits both Type I and Type II enzymes, lowering DHT levels by up to 90–95% in the blood and scalp.
